Four Dogs
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Four Dogs was a family friend that had come to me for logo design. Founded by a retired lawyer, he spends his free time designing wood furniture pieces inspired by Vermont style.
Four Dogs had originally asked me to design their logo in 2018, and since then I had taken on this project as a personal one to practice my skills while my freelance career is on hold.

LOGOS
The logo for Four Dogs draws inspiration from the owner’s four furry companions, who are often by his side while he works. The name itself reflects this connection, creating a playful and authentic representation of the brand. The design evokes a rustic, handmade feel, with elements that suggest a stamped look, reinforcing the artisanal nature of the business and the owner’s hands-on approach.
Given that the business is a side project for the owner, the logo wasn’t intended as a traditional advertising tool, but rather as a personal extension of his interests and personality. This allowed for a more relaxed, informal approach to the design, focusing on authenticity and connection rather than formal brand messaging.
While the owner initially requested a single logo, there was an opportunity to expand the identity into a logo suite. This suite can be used for various applications, such as a logo designed specifically for branding on wood pieces, as well as versions for digital or print materials. This flexibility ensures the logo adapts to the different contexts in which the brand is represented, maintaining consistency across all touchpoints.
COLOR
The color palette draws from the natural tones of the materials used in the furniture, creating a cohesive, grounded brand identity. Earthy browns, neutrals, and soft greys reflect the raw, rustic beauty of the products and the hands-on craftsmanship behind them.
TYPOGRAPHY
Typography includes a fun, western font paired with a bold, straight san-serif font.
